Anaïs Bouts
After completing a degree in Philosophy, Anaïs graduated from Laban with a BA(hons) 1st Class in Dance Theatre and a Simone Michelle Choreography Award. She has since then worked internationally as a choreographer and performer, and is a qualified Yoga teacher. In 2007 she was awarded a Bonnie Bird New Choreographers Award.
From her studies in philosophy, yoga and dance theatre Anaïs has developed an eclectic taste ranging from somatic techniques to conceptual art and minimal spatial composition. She is particularly interested in collaborative and interdisciplinary projects, and in how choreography can challenge and question the usual modes of representation.
Apart from her work with MIKS, Anaïs has collaborated as a choreographer with artist Tim Shore on 'Burlesque', a commissioned film for Capture5. She has choreographed a Leche Commission trio for EDge, presented work for WHAT NOW at Siobhan Davies Studios and at The Place for Resolution!. She has performed with choreographers such as Joclecio Azevedo, Athina Vahla, Frauke Requardt or Res Extensa Company.
Anaïs is a founder member of MIKS.
